Gold Band Records is a small, independent label. As a student in high school She made her mark local, but longed for a larger stage. On the very day she graduated from high school, in 1964. Dumb Blonde was her first single to reach the top of the charts for the first time on Monument Records. Porter Wagoner began looking for female singers to join his TV show syndicated by a network at about the same time. Parton joined Grand Ole Opry 1969 after having signed in 1969 with RCA Records. In 1974, she quit Wagoner's Show because the success of her own songs such as Joshua Coats of Many Colors or Jolene was outstripping their joint releases. After their split, Parton wrote the song I Will Always Love You for Wagoner and it debuted at Number. Its first appearance at the top spot was in 1974.
